The first of Royal Caribbean’s Quantum Class megaships to be based in Australia, Ovation of the Seas has all the high-tech gadgets you could hope for on a cruise ship. Carrying an epic 4,905 passengers at 1,500 crew, this is a next-level adventure for every kind of cruiser.
From skydiving in the RipCord by iFLY simulator to catching a wave on the FlowRider Surf Simulator and looking down at the sea from almost 100 metres in the air in the North Star observation capsule, Ovation of the Seas is packed with out of this world experiences. Other fun features include four swimming pools, multiple hot tubs, Splashaway Bay splash park, a rock climbing wall, bumper cars, sports courts and a video game arcade. Don’t miss the giant sculpture of a panda mother and baby climbing over the outside of the Seaplex’s glass roof.
Dining is a highlight with more than 20 restaurants dotted throughout the ship. There are four main dining rooms, a huge buffet, cafes, casual options and fine dining. Dine with the UK’s favourite celebrity chef at Jamie’s Italian, enjoy traditional Japanese at Izumi, grab a gourmet hot dog at the Seaplex Doghouse food truck or be swept up in the whimsy of Wonderland Imaginative Dining. After dinner, enjoy an innovative performance in Two70, watch a show in the Royal Theatre or catch a live band in the Music Hall.
The Adventure Ocean kid’s club hosts little ones from six months to 12 years, while teens can hang out in the supervised Living Room area. The Solarium is the adults’ only retreat, with a pool, hot tubs and lounges, and the Vitality Spa is the place for some quiet rejuvenation.
Almost very cabin on board Ovation of the Seas comes with an ocean view – even the inside cabins! Selected interior cabins come with the line’s revolutionary Virtual Balconies, essentially a floor-to-ceiling video screen that projects a real time video of the view outside. Families will love the over-the-top Ultimate Family Townhouses, a luxury suite complete with its own slide and a jacuzzi on the balcony.
Ovation of the Seas spends half the year in Australian waters, sailing from Sydney to ports along the east coast, New Zealand and the South Pacific. In our winter months, she heads north to sail in Alaska.
