When you read about Phi Phi islands words like picturesque, stunning and magical are all thrown around liberally, but truthfully, none of these really do it justice. Phi Phi is paradise on Earth. As you can imagine, with such incredible beauty, Phi Phi has become a wildly popular travel destination, so expect it to be busy. Of the six islands that make up Phi Phi, Phi Phi Don is the only inhabited island – this is where you will find all of the accommodation and amenities as well as Tonsai Village, the bustling heart of the island. If you’re arriving by longtail or ferry, you’ll arrive in Tonsai Bay. From there, it’s up to you to decide what to do next. Set out to explore Nui Beach, a gorgeous cove ideal for snorkelling, wander around the charming village chatting with locals or jump on a longtail to find Viking Cave on Koh Phi Phi Leh or out to Bamboo Island (also known as Ko Mai Phai). If you’re doing a day trip to Phi Phi, it’s likely you will also stop at the magnificent Maya Bay, which was made famous by the Leonardo DiCaprio flick The Beach. Closed to tourists for almost four years, Maya Bay opened again in 2022, but there are rules for tourists, so be sure to listen to the local guides. Paradise is calling. Will you answer it?
